Thank you to all the players, cheerleaders, and coaches for your hard work, dedication and passion this season. You have made everyone at HYF&C proud! There is not an organization in Bert Bell who has more heart than our players and cheerleaders.

Please come out and support the Sophomore Varsity football players on their round one playoff game this Saturday, October 27th 10:30 at Ridley High School.

Uniform and equipment turn in for the 10/11 football team, 12/13 football team, noncompetition cheerleaders, and flag cheerleaders will be November 1st from 6:00-7:00 at the Reserve.

Uniform turn in for teams playing post season games will be announced after 11/1. All turn ins will be done directly at the field at which time you will receive your deposit check back. 

Picture pick up for all teams accept Flag football will also be November 1st from 6:00-7:00 at the Reserve. Flag football can pick pictures up directly from their coaches, an email will be sent.

Please mark your calendars for January 6th for our End of Year Banquet! Don’t forget to start sending your pictures from this season

Hello Everyone

Homecoming is this Saturday, September 29th. Please plan for very limited parking and a tight schedule. We ask that all parents arrive a minimum of 15 minutes prior to game time so that we have everyone present when we announce the players and cheerleaders. Each child will need someone present. There will be lots of great food, merchandise, raffle baskets and a DJ so come hungry and ready for fun! New this year Moon Bounces!!

How it works - Families will line up on the field approximately 15 minutes prior to game time. Listen for the DJ to call your team. Cheerleaders will go first. Players and cheerleaders will be announced by name, run 10 yards to their parents and hand them their flower. Next players and cheerleaders will go into the tent in the end zone and will run onto the field when their team is announced.  Do not stand on the field in front of the tunnel to get pictures. This blocks the players and is unsafe. All players and cheerleaders will receive a free pretzel after their game.

Decorations - Since this is a big day for our children, please feel free to create posters and/or banners to show your spirit and support.  We will hang them on our fence and/or post them around the field. 

Saturday 9/29 is also Picture Day. Players and Cheerleaders need to arrive 1 hour and 30 minutes before game time in full uniform. Everyone should have received a picture form from their coach/team parent. There will be limited forms at the field.

Raffle Baskets

We will have raffle baskets at the field from each team. Winners will be announced at 6:30. You do not need to be present to win. All numbers will be posted on our website. All proceeds go towards a new score board for next season. We are looking for volunteers to work the raffle table!

As stated in our previous start of season email, there is a parent meeting for NEW families only on August 1st at 6:00 on the field. If you are a parent of a returning padded football player or field cheerleader you are not required to attend the new parent meeting. There is not a meeting today at the field for any players or cheerleaders. The previous email is copied below. Please make sure to sign up for Rained Out since there is rain in the forecast this week.

 

 

Hello HYF&C Families!

We are 8 days away from the first night of our 2018 season! We can't wait to see you all on the field!

The following is updated information for the start of the season.  

                                                PADDED FOOTBALL INFO

Football First Night of Practice and Parent Meeting

  • Practice will start on August 1st. Practices are Monday through Thursday 6:00-8:00 pm. There will be a brief meeting for all NEW padded football parents on August 1st . Please meet at 6:00 on the turf.   Returning parents do not need to attend.
  • Players should bring water and be in tshirt and shorts for the first week
  • Don't forget to bring your completed Physical Form with you the first day of practice. Form can be found on our website.
  • Please feel free to share our information and have your child bring a friend to practice to see if they might like to register!

Football Equipment Hand Out

  • You will not receive equipment until your registration and shack fee are paid in full. For Padded football you must supply a check made out to HYF&C for $200 as an equipment and uniform deposit. This check will be returned to you at the end of the season at equipment hand in. Your $20 shack fee is separate and can be either cash or check.

12/13 year olds  Monday August 6th 6:00 on the field

10/11 year olds Tuesday August 7th 6:00 on the field

 8/9 year olds Wednesday August 8th 6:00 on the field

7 year olds Thursday August 9th 6:00 on the field

Any player that misses their hand out day can get equipment between 5:30-6:00 before practice. No equipment will be handed out during practice.

  • Football players will need to purchase additional items on their own such as cleats, cup, mouth guard and integrated practice pants. If you have questions please ask your coach.

 

Players age 12 and 13 who are registered to play with Haverford Middle School or a local CYO football team will have the option this year to also play for Haverford Youth. Players would not be expected to practice with HYF in season but to attend a pregame run through immediately before their scheduled game. All home games will be played Saturdays at 6:00 at the Reserve under the lights. Please tell a friend! Shack Fee

 All families are required to pay a $20 family shack fee that will enable us to have the snack shack staffed at all times. If you have a cheerleader and football player you will pay at your oldest football player’s equipment handout.

ID’s

All Padded Football players and Field Cheerleaders are required to have a valid ID by Bert Bell. Our ID night is August 20th at 6:00 at the CREC. There will not be practice on this night. Players and cheerleaders will be told by their coaches if they need an ID. If this is your first season, you need an ID. You must supply an original birth certificate. If you do not have an original do not go to get an ID you will be turned away by Bert Bell. If you are not able to get an ID because you are on vacation please let your coach know. There will be one make up date in September. Players and Cheerleaders are ineligible to particpate at games unless they have a valid ID.

RAIN POLICY

In the event that practice or a game were to be canceled by rain or other circumstances we would contact you 2 ways. First, we ask that you sign up for rainedout.com so that you can receive an alert right to your cell phone. Follow these directions:

In the find your organization box type in Haverford Youth Football

then hit search

Under preferred results Haverford Youth will be listed in blue click on it

In the blue box enter your cell number no spaces or dashes and then click agree

and click start sign up

You will immediately be texted a validation code to your cell phone enter that code in the blue box and click validate code

Second, we will send out an email from HYF&C to whichever email you used to register your child.

Please join us on Friday, May 18th from 6:00-8:00 at the CREC for a Haverford Youth Football and Cheerleading Open House. Coaches at every level will be available to answer your questions and meet the players and cheerleaders. This event is open to all, please bring a friend and spread the word!

NEW 2018 AGE DIVISIONS:

After thoroughly vetting all options, the Bert Bell Conference and HYF&C have concluded that aligning ages more appropriately has a greater importance than capping weights at each level. We feel that every child should have the opportunity to play Football with their classmates. The new alignment also allows for players to grow at a natural pace without fear of needing to play "up" due to body type. Each level will still offer a Varsity and Junior Varsity structure. Birthdate is based on July 31st

Newly aligned AGE only Divisions:

• 7 yrs "Rookie" Division (Age: 7)
• 8/9 Division (Ages: 8 & 9)
• 10/11 Division (Ages: 10 & 11)
• 12/13 Division (Ages: 12 & 13)
• Flag Football will remain ages 5 and 6

Our NEW Rookie Tackle Division serves as a bridge-game between flag football and 11-player tackle – and is a part of USA Football’s adoption of the United States Olympic Committee’s American Development Model (ADM).

We're very excited to announce that we will be having our end of year banquet to celebrate the great job all of our players and cheerleaders did this season. The league will be paying the cost of all players and cheerleaders registered during our 2017 season. All family members are invited to attend as well. The cost is $35 per person, children 4 and under are free.

Location: Springfield Country Club
Date: January 7th 2017
Time: 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm
Includes lunch, sundae bar, photo booth and a few surprises!

Pre-registration and payment by January 2nd is required to attend the banquet. Simply go to our website http://haverfordyouthfootball.assn.la/ and click to registration on the left hand side. There is a registration for players and a separate registration for family members. Payment cannot be made the day of the banquet.

Springfield Country Club will be unable to accommodate any walk-up registration. All attendees must be registered in advance, no exceptions.

As you know tomorrow is our last game and Homecoming. Please plan for very limited parking and a tight schedule. We ask that all parents arrive a minimum of 15 minutes prior to game time so that we have everyone present when we announce the players and cheerleaders. Each child will need someone present so that they can hand them their flower when their name is called. There will be lots of great food, merchandise, raffle baskets and a DJ so come hungry and ready for fun!

As always kids need to arrive 1 hour before game time for padded football and 30 minutes for flag. Players and families will line up on the field approximately 15 minutes prior to game time. Listen for the DJ to call your team. Players will be announced, run 10 yards to their parents and hand them their flower. After we ask everyone to stand behind the 40 yard line as the kids run through the tunnel and fog machine onto the field. Do not stand on the field in front of the tunnel to get pictures. This blocks the players and is unsafe. All players and cheerleaders will receive a program booklet and a free pretzel tomorrow.

We ask that tomorrow you take many pictures of your child in action and group pictures with team friends so that we can use them in the slideshow at the banquet.
